How to help Hurricane Harvey victims

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers to go everyone who has been affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many shelters, relief agencies and volunteers are working in and around Houston and the surrounding areas to help families in need. If you are looking for a way to help, see below for a list of organizations:

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

After receiving an overwhelming number of inquiries from citizens and companies who want to help, Mayor Sylvester Turner has established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund that will accept tax-deductible flood relief donations for victims affected by the recent floods.

Houston Food Bank and the Food Bank of Corpus Christi are asking for donations.

Carter BloodCare

They cover hospitals in North, Central and East Texas. To donate, call 877-571-1000 or text DONATE4LIFE to 444-999.

American Red Cross

Call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation. The Red Cross is currently asking for monetary and blood donations.

Houston Flood Relief

Houston Texans JJ Watt set up a fundraiser to help raise as much money as possible to help the communities and families to help rebuild the aspects of our community members lives that were damaged or lost. Any donation that you can spare, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated. We will come out of this stronger than ever. We are Texans.

Salvation Army

Donations be made by calling 1-800-725-2769 or online. The Salvation Army is ready to provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to survivors and relief workers and will remain in impacted communities supporting long-term disaster recovery efforts and providing ongoing assistance to those in need.

Texas Diaper Bank

Based in San Antonio, the Texas Diaper Bank focuses works to meet the needs of babies, children with disabilities and seniors providing diapers and other goods.

The United Way of Greater Houston 

A flood relief fund will be used to help with immediate needs as well as long-term services like minor home repair. Visit their website to donate or text UWFLOOD to 41444.

Feeding Texas

Food banks are currently requesting monetary donations instead of food, which will enable them to provide assistance where it is needed the most. Feeding Texas is a statewide charitable organization that works alongside state and federal relief efforts during major disasters.

Houston Pets Alive

They are rescuing and evacuating animals from affected areas, providing shelter and supplies to dogs forced to leave their homes, and coordinating foster care for the many, many dogs driven from flooded Houston shelters. Houston has been devasted from Hurricane Harvey. If you are able to help, the HPA is in need of In-Kind Donations, Fosters, Adopt, Supply Donations, Trasnportation Volunteers, Divert pets from shelters and Donations.

Save the Children

Are delivering baby supplies, including cribs and strollers, and setting up child-friendly spaces in shelters.
